In my opinion, both academics and HR practitioners alike embraced SHRM for the following reasons:
For HR practitioners:- HR needs to be the strategic partner of an organisation when it comes to developing human capital as a source competitive advantage. To ensure that employees have the right skills to support the business' vision, HR should develop HR strategy and to link the HR strategy into overall corporate strategy to deliver organisational success.
For academics: Academics play important roles in knowledge creation that will benefit both public and private enterprises. Academicians aim to conduct research and provide explanations on how SHRM influences operational performances. Their research forms the foundation which will be used by HR practitioners to help organisation achieve success.
