SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) is an organisation that is used to enhance the professionalism of human resource management and more academics and HR professionals are embracing SHRM I think for multiple reasons:

Elaborating from the perspective of professional recognition, SHRM offers certifications such as SHRM-CP (Certified Professional) and SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional), which are professional recognitions in the field of human resources, and CP and SCP certifications help individuals to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the field of human resource management. knowledge and skills in the field of human resource management, and similarly SHRM has developed a series of industry standards and best practices that provide a common framework for organisations, which helps to ensure that HR professionals adopt the latest methodologies and strategies in their work.SHRM provides its members with a wide range of resources and opportunities, including research papers, networking events, seminars, and more. This provides a platform for academics and practitioners to interact, prompting them to share experiences, insights and best practices.

The question of whether there is a strong business case for a strategic approach to HRM depends on the specific context. Business success can indeed be brought about through the adoption of effective HRM strategies. For example, SHRM can positively impact business performance by increasing employee satisfaction and reducing turnover through strategies such as recruiting and developing high calibre employees, building a positive corporate culture, and implementing performance management. Some HR professionals may be more concerned with employee relations, corporate culture and overall organisational health, which may be difficult to quantify directly into financial performance in the short term.

Overall, embracing SHRM and adopting a strategic approach to human resource management is usually done in order to improve professionalism, gain recognition and achieve more effective human resource management in an organisation. This is in line with both individual career development needs and organisational goals to improve performance and employee satisfaction.
