Activity 1: Group Activity
The Define stage in Design Thinking is a critical phase where we shape the problem we intend to solve. Here is an activity to enhance your understanding and guide you through this stage:
Group Activity
Problem Statement Workshop:
Gather the Team: Bring together everyone involved in the project or those who have valuable insights into the problem area.
Review Insights: Recap the findings from the Empathize stage. This could include user interviews, observations, data analysis, etc.
Generate Insights: Encourage participants to share their observations, anecdotes, and interpretations of the data. Use methods like affinity mapping or clustering to organize these insights into themes.
Identify Patterns: Look for recurring themes, pain points, or areas of opportunity that emerge from the insights.
Craft Problem Statements: Based on the identified patterns, collaboratively craft problem statements that clearly define the challenge you're trying to solve. These statements should be focused on the user's needs or pain points.
Refine and Prioritize: Discuss and refine the problem statements to ensure they accurately capture the essence of the challenge. Then, prioritize them based on their significance and feasibility.
Finalize Problem Statement: By the end of the workshop, aim to have a concise, clear problem statement that will guide the ideation phase.
Document and Share: Document the problem statement(s) and the process used to arrive at them. Share this with the team for reference and use it as a guide for the subsequent stages of the Design Thinking process.
You are expected to upload an infographic that includes visual elements such as headlines, bullet points, or graphics to highlight important information.
Please post your discussion and comment on at least one of your friends’ posts.
