Objective:
To develop the ability to analyze different sectors within the creative industries, identifying key roles and functions within each sector.
Materials Needed:
- Access to library resources, online databases, and scholarly articles
- Presentation tools for slide creations. Suggestion to use Google Slides.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Activity
Overview:
Participants will research their assigned sector, identify key roles and
functions, and present their findings to peers in a forum discussion format.
Instructions:
Step 1: Select ONE area of the Creative Industry (15 minutes)
- Advertising / Digital Marketing
- Audio-Video Productions
- Industrial Design
- Games
- Cultural Heritage; Cultural Gifts
Step 2: Research and Analysis (1 hour)
- Conduct your research to cover the following areas:
- Overview of the sector and its significance.
- Key roles and functions within the sector
- Current trends and challenges facing the sector
- Major companies or organizations within the sector
- Supplement your research evidence with the use of various sources such as industry reports, websites of professional organizations, company websites, and articles.
- You may use tables, charts or matrix to categories your research
Step 3: Create Presentations (30 minutes)
- You will create a short presentation (5-10 minutes) summarizing your findings.
- Do consider covering the following:
- Prepare presentation slide with audio/text notations
- Maximum 10 slides.
Step 4: Post and Discuss Reflection (30 minutes)
- Post and Discuss:
- Post your slides with audio notes in the Discussion Forum below within the set due date for this activity.
- Review the slides shared by other class members of this group and provide constructive feedback/discussion covering:
- Identify common themes,
connections, and divergences across different areas of the creative industries
