Explain The Importance of Public Speaking
Let's explore a new chapter. Complete the question on the last page.
PAGE 1
After completing Chapter 1, you have a basic understanding of Public Speaking, the process, and the differences between Public Speaking and normal conversation. Now, let us dive a little deeper and understand the power of Public Speaking.
Public Speaking has always been projected as a tool to influence people and only prominent figures apply these skills almost all the time. I am here to prove to you otherwise that Public Speaking must be used by every single individual as their personal quality to stand on their own feet before a group of people.
Now, please imagine the below situations:
- You are a management trainee in a large corporation. Altogether, there are seven trainees in the program. One of you will get the lower-management job that has just opened. There is to be a large staff meeting at which each of these trainees will discuss the project he or she has been developing. One by one your colleagues make their presentations. They have no experience in public speaking and are intimidated by the higher-ranking managers present. Their speeches are stumbling and awkward. You, however, call upon all the skills you learned in your public speaking course. You deliver an informative talk that is clear, well-reasoned, and articulate. And what? You get the job!
- You are married and have three children. One of your children has a learning disability. You hear that your local school board has decided, for budget reasons, to eliminate the special teacher who has been helping you child. At an open meeting of the school board, you stand up and deliver a thoughtful, compelling speech on the necessity for keeping the special teacher. And what? The school board has changed its mind!
Any of the above situations could occur to us, so be prepared to overcome them confidently.
