Lesson Introduction
Welcome to Topic 7. In this topic, we will be focusing on using SPSS as a statistical tool to perform quantitative data analysis. As we all know, quantitative data is all about analysing numbers, and it’s no surprise that it involves statistics. Consider conducting a satisfaction survey and asking the participant to rate their experience on a scale of 1 to 5. You can collect the ratings and being numerical in nature, you will use statistical methods to draw conclusions about participants satisfaction. This example demonstrated that the importance of using statistics to measure performance, and manually analysing a data appears to be an impossible task for everyone! Particularly when you are working with a “big data”. So in this topic, we will discuss on how to use SPSS software to analyse a questionnaire dataset.
Four learning outcomes you will need to achieve through this lesson, as shown below. You will be expected to spend approximately 3 hours on this lesson. Completing this topic will enable you to:
- Create the data file for analysis.
- Produce descriptive statistics using SPSS
- Produce inferential statistics using SPSS
- Explain ethical consideration
