Qualitative Research Reliability and Validity
In this topic, I will explain reliability and validity for a qualitative study. Reliability in qualitative research refers to the stability of responses to multiple coders of data sets. You need to take note that validity in qualitative research might have different terms than in quantitative research. Lincoln and Guba (1985) used “trustworthiness” of a study as the naturalist’s equivalent for internal validation, external validation, reliability, and objectivity. I will explain how Trustworthiness is achieved by credibility, authenticity, transferability, dependability, and confirmability in qualitative research.
Completing this learning outcome will enable you to formulate the trustworthiness of data in qualitative studies.
