Welcome to Topic 5! In this lesson, we are going to look at what the Define phase of Design Thinking is. The Define mode of the design process is all about bringing clarity and focus to the design space. It is your chance, and responsibility, as a design thinker to define the challenge you are taking on, based on what you have learned about your user and about the context.

We will also discuss how the topics are going to be delivered as well as how you will be assessed.

Completing this topic will enable you to:

1.      Define key terms and concepts relating to a specific field or subject and demonstrate their use in context.

2.      Demonstrate the ability to analyse information gathered.

3.      Synthesize information from various sources to create a well-rounded definition.

4.      Interpret information to be delivered in a professional presentation to peers

Here are the key terms that you should be able to use throughout this lesson:

•        Point of View (POV)

•        Problem statement

•        Analysis and Synthesis

You will spend approximately 3 hours on this lesson.
