as companies find initial success they tend to expand the scale and reach of their company from small and local to large and international. once they start operating at a global scale there is a need for new types of understanding and business structures to emerge. for example they must consider the vast cultural, legal and economic differences that are at play when operating in other countries and must adhere to the rules and customs in order to do business. similarly recruitment can also take place on a global scale and this is very different from hiring locally so HR must be equipped to consider and shortlist the best candidates from an international talent pool.
technologies like the internet and improved cargo transport also heavily affect the need and opprtunities to expand into international markets

the key features of GHR include;
managing cultural diversity,
standardization & localization,
global talent recruitment,
obeying the laws, regulations, and customs of foreign countries
