For countries to grow, especially in IT, strategic global human resource management (SHRM) is a must. For Indian multinationals like Alpha Computers, which values intellectual capital and decentralized leadership, important things are performance measures, strategic HR practices, and leaders who are able to make decisions on their own. Alpha's success comes from giving employees a lot of freedom, using performance-based measures, and making sure that HR policies are balanced between global and local issues. But problems like making decisions based on India and problems with the workforce (like high turnover and rising pay) still exist. The case study talks about Alpha's creative HR practices but also talks about how employees don't have a say and the company's reputation is at danger. To do business in multipolar settings, emerging economies like India are combining global best practices with changes that work in their own countries.
