An adaptive approach to global HRM has proven to be more effective when a combination of the following characteristics co-exist and are equally observed:

1.    Decentralization of power

2.    Autonomous and distributed leadership,

3.    Employee empowerment and non-hierarchical work environment, every employee in the organization views themselves as chief executives of their unit or operational area, applying a full-life-cycle approach (time, cost management, customer service and returns) to running their business areas

4.    Standard and uniform performance metrics apply to every employee

It is therefore recommended that companies adopt management models with a view to developing a global eco-system and adaptive management taking its metrics driven business approach even beyond geographical boundaries. Adaptability could even include an ecosystem that extends beyond organizational boundaries e.g. by involving customers and suppliers as part of the company’s performance and people management’s eco-system where a high collaborative trust factor has been established with such external parties.
