Activity 5 - Reliability vs Validity

Instructions

Step 1: Pick a Test

Choose a psychological test or survey you know (e.g., IQ test, personality test, anxiety scale).

Write a short description of the test and what it measures.

Step 2: Talk About Reliability

Is the test reliable? Does it give the same results if used multiple times?

Give an example or research that supports whether the test is reliable or not.

Step 3: Talk About Validity

Is the test valid? Does it measure what it is supposed to measure?

Give an example or research that supports whether the test is valid or not.

Step 4: Reflect

Can a test be reliable but not valid? How does this apply to the test you picked?

Step 5: Comment on Other Posts

After posting, read other students’ posts.

Comment on their posts by asking a question or sharing your thoughts.

For example:

“Do you think this test is valid for different groups of people?”

“What might cause the test to be less reliable?”
