Curious to Know About the Module?
This module is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of the nature and scope of research. Students will be introduced to a rich and diverse content, supported by a range of learning activities that will enable them to embed research theory into their design, arts practice or social scientific enquiry. Student will examine and evaluate current issues in practice-led and practice-based research. The module will support students to extend and develop their portfolio of research skills that will be a key asset in their future careers as designers, practitioners, professionals or academic researchers. The overall purpose of the module is to support each student to establish a personal, reflective, and examined intellectual position in relation to design as a professional process of inquiry, thought, and action.
The learning outcomes for this module are listed below. By the time you complete this module, you will be able to:
- Explain a comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to your research (C6, PLO2)
- Present an understanding of how established techniques of research enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in your discipline(s) using digital tools (A2, PLO6)
- Evaluate current research and advanced scholarship in your chosen discipline(s) (C5, PLO7)
- Demonstrate self-direction and originality in the development of your research. (A3, PLO9)

This module has an assessment which is split into 3 parts. *Insert the assessments and domains which are aligned*
- Literature Review Matrix (min 30 articles) 15%
- Data Analysis Report (1000-1200 words) 15%
- Digital Archive/Record (2000-2500 words) 30%
- Research Project (3000-3500 words) 40%
