Introducing Myself
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, but I would like to add a little bit more about myself here, so you know me better as we journey together in this module.
My name is Jonathan, and I have been teaching for 25 years.
My interests are in maximizing technology to help me be a better teacher. Better teacher? What is a better teacher you may ask. I think a 'better teacher' is one that leaves his students fulfilled yet seeking more. A 'better teacher' is one that motivates you, yet challenges you. But I digress.
In my search for technology to help me become a better teacher, I have spent more than a decade on Technology Enabled Teaching tools, methods and frameworks.
Having obtained a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, I then set out to gain a mastery of technology and earned a Masters in Technology Management. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Education Technology, a goal that would move me one step closer to achieving my aim of using technology to teach better.
You can imagine then, when Artificial Intelligence came into the public domain, I was besides myself. I figured this was the pinnacle of technology enhanced learning, where every teacher and every student can have access to technology to support them in their teaching journey (teachers) and learning journey (students).
So here I am, with you. I want you to share my passion for technology enabled learning. I want you to ignite your own enthusiasm for technology enabled learning. This module provides us with that opportunity. Let's grab that opportunity with multiple hands.
Since some of us prefer to see and hear things more than read them, there is a video of me below. In it, I say pretty much the same things you've read here. Go ahead and give it a watch, it may help you understand me better.
Once you have had your fill of learning about me, I would like to know about you too. Who are you? What brings you here? What are your expectations? What are your ambitions? Use the section labelled Self-Introduction to tell me about yourself. Your course mates will also share about themselves in that section, so feel free to "talk" to them. Ask them questions, answer theirs, or simply say hi.
