SHRM's strategic focus helps organizations gain a competitive advantage through improved productivity, innovation, and workforce engagement. However, some argue this embrace may partially stem from self-interest, as SHRM elevates the status of HR professionals as strategic partners and enhances the academic relevance of HRM as a discipline. While self-interest may play a role, the substantial evidence supporting SHRM’s positive impact on organizational outcomes makes a strong business case that outweighs these criticisms.
