In this case study, Alpha adopts polycentric approach means the company develops different strategies for different countries. Here it is discussed that Alpha’s policy is to hire all positions of local staff at least 20% in overseas operations while entry-level positions with 50% and 90% in its non-English speaking geographies. So, it is clear that it helps decentralised and distributed leadership. Alpha’s Head of HR in China states that “Alpha wants to be a Chinese company in China but provide the same global experience to clients, no matter where the operations are carried out’ reflects this ambition”. So it is clear that it follows the polycentricity approach which is often used in staffing and marketing, allowing local subsidiaries to hire locally and adapt to specific market conditions.
Though the case study shows polycentric approach is so successful for Alpha, but in my opinion geocentric approach is the best practice for the MNCs.
