Managing People Can Make or Break A Company

Here, I will talk about managing people from my own personal experience from my professional life as a manager in a company. I worked for “Cheetay” back in Pakistan, Cheetay is the biggest competitor of foodpanda in my country in the food delivering sector and the biggest player of grocery deliveries.

I was hired as a Community Manager but soon was promoted to managing the Customer Services department. There, I witnessed the worst case of managing people I had ever seen. My colleagues were the best-in-class employees and I was also promoted due to my skills but as days went by, people resigned left and right due to the lack of belonging and support from the upper management.

- We were being promoted without any salary increase or bonuses.

- More responsibilities were being poured down on us.

The CEO was verbally abusing the higher management and then it was passed down on us.

- Good employees were fired for the sake of downsizing out of the blue.

- Work strategies were changing on a daily basis.

This caused the majority of employees to leave the company, including myself after working extra hours to improve the company’s situation.

Hence, I believe if you don’t manage your own people right, then your business can’t thrive in the long run no matter what your strategies are.

Hello. First of all, I am sorry to hear that. Also, I like that instead of telling the advantages and examples of a good people management, you are telling the opposite. Indeed, bad people management can lead to high employee turnover rates and in the long run the lack of personnel can lead the company to losing in a competitive market. Especially if the product or service is not unique and there are many rival companies.
