As a company grows and evolves, HR strategy needs to adapt along to ensure that the right talents are recruited, hired, trained and developed for the tasks in hand.

Alpha is committed to hire as many locals as possible to fill the ranks- a polycentric approach. For an MNC to truly flourish, it needs a balanced proportion of local versus expatriate talents. This mix would enable transfer of skills and knowledge (i.e. expats will be able to transfer their cutting edge technology know-how to locals and locals could provide local market knowledge and access to expand the business). Thus a geocentric approach- recruit suitable person irrespective of nationalities- is recommended.

To attract the best talents onboard, HR could:- (1) use reputable recruitment agencies with international connections to source for hires, (2) for internal hiring an internal database can be created to identify potential star employees for promotions/ transfers, (3) to rotate employees into different departments/ roles between HQ and subsidiaries offices, (4) HQ to offer trainings to subsidiaries' staff, (5) Increase HR's exposure oversea so that HR personnel can understand the local cultures better, thus assisting them to make more informed hiring decisions.
