Embracing SHRM by academics and professionals is due to strong business need.

SHRM is a process that helps companies achieve their goals by better managing their work force. It involves aligning the skills and expertise of employees with company's business objectives. This not only boosts their job satisfaction but also increase their contribution to the company's success. A company which links its business strategy with HRM can easily gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. SHRM provides direction, helps adapt to changes, optimizes resource allocation. One case for example, one commercial building construction firm found that its projects are delayed and incurs higher costs due to some critical interior and electro-mechanical works. This firm has two separate departments for interior & electro-mechanical works. Lack of inter department coordination and scope delegation is a reason for this problem. Also, the in-house interior department has huge overhead costs. So, the management wants to minimize the interior department up to supervision works only and to sub-contracting other low-cost and efficient interior decor companies. So, having acknowledged this business strategy, HRM strategy will be to keep supervisors for interior decor only and deploy one coordinator for multitasking and multi-department coordination. Thus SHRM helps to booster the cost and time performance of the company.
