Great Leader = Great People Management

When an individual is first welcomed to a new company, the person they would rely on the most is their leader. A role model to follow and look to in a foreign environment. However, we often see cases where companies just let new hires find out about the company themselves. Barely teaching the basics and saying, "well then, we think this onboarding is enough. Now do your job!"

Yes. Being adaptive is a great characteristic to have for new employees.

But, is it really that good for companies to just dump everything on new hires and let them find their own way? I don't think so.

This is where people management plays a huge role in building and maintaining a substantial company culture. As Uncle Ben said, "with great power, comes great responsibility". This statement rings true as to how leaders have an important role in welcoming and teaching new recruits. The valuable lessons that they teach will come a long way throughout the employee's career journey in the company.

Hence, leaders should start by applying essential people management skills, such as clear communication, empowerment, trust, and patience to educate new employees.

I agree, I feel that with toxic company culture, people would rather choose to get done with the bare minimum amount of work and go back home as soon as possible and look for a new job.
