According to the article, Alpha adapts cross-functional and uses a “collaboration index”. Generally speaking, since the structure of organizations is complicated, it is difficult to assess the member’s performance in that kind of team, thus some companies are afraid of conflicts among the members and avoid the structure.

Whereas Alpha solved this problem by using a “collaboration index” and trying to give their clients creativity and diversity from multinational teams. In my opinion, all leaders who belong to global companies follow this management attitude.

I agree with your observation that Alpha’s use of a "collaboration index" addresses the common challenge of assessing performance in cross-functional teams. Many organizations do indeed struggle with measuring individual contributions in such complex team structures, which often leads to conflict avoidance or resistance to adopting cross-functional models.

Alpha’s approach demonstrates that, rather than shying away from these challenges, companies can use innovative performance metrics to foster collaboration and accountability. The collaboration index ensures that team members’ contributions are recognized, encouraging them to work together more effectively. This not only mitigates internal conflicts but also enhances creativity and diversity, particularly when multinational teams are involved.

Your point about global leaders adopting this management attitude is key. In a globalized business environment, fostering collaboration across diverse teams is crucial. Leaders should embrace these kinds of performance tools to harness the full potential of their workforce, encouraging innovation while maintaining clarity in performance assessment. Alpha sets a great example of how this can be achieved, and I agree that more global companies should follow this approach.
