Globalisation of a company leads to transition of its HRM. Rapid business change, shifting towards emerging markets and gig economy are among economic aspect that lead to transition of HRM in a company. On the social aspects, boarderless workspace, diversity, employee experience and internal mobality are several reason that brought change in HRM.

In the past, HR department is synonyms with managing people/ employees in a company. Their jobscope is restricted in that context only. They always being left out of strategic planning and advised once a plan of action was already being implemented. Little emphasis was placed on employee engagement and staff were considered an expense. However, HR today is a dynamic department that makes use of different technologies to automate processes and improve communication. The value of human resources has also being recognised and staff are no longer viewed as an expense but as human capital.
