I think that academics and HR professionals have embraced SHRM for the interest of business and companies.
SHRM provides a strong business case by aligning human resource practices with the strategic goals of an organization, which can lead to improved performance and competitive advantage. Organizations that integrate HR into their broader strategy are better equipped to innovate, boost productivity, and drive long-term success.
However I could argue that there is also a degree of self-interest involved. By promoting SHRM, HR professionals can elevate their role within organizations, moving from administrative support functions to key strategic partners. This shift enhances the perceived value of the HR profession, giving it more influence and prestige within corporate decision-making.
