Academics and HR pros have embraced SHRM because of its huge impact on company success and the advancements made in HR to allow SHRM in the first place.
SHRM aligns HR practices with company goals, allowing for efficiency, employee engagement and competitiveness. Making use of structured training, certifications and HR frameowrks, SHRM allows companies to manage workforce challenges dynamically.
The perspective that SHRM is adopted out of self interest cannot negate the impact SHRM has already show. Especially when taking into account the growing complexity of HR processes and the amount of people who have to work together are a further arguement in favor of SHRM. I think the success of SHRM is more driven by it's actual effects of enhancing business outcomes, rather than the self-interest of HR professionals.
Why have academics and HR professionals embraced SHRM?
