I think academics and HR professionals have embraced SHRM because it can really help organizations. When HR is aligned with the company's main goals, many things improve, like employee performance and reaching company goals.

Of course, there are some personal benefits too. Some people may want to improve their career or academic position. For academics, SHRM is also a new topic to research and write about, which gives them good opportunities.

But overall, I think SHRM is a good approach that helps both the organization and the development of HR.

That’s a really balanced and honest view I agree with you. You've acknowledged the potential personal benefits for HR professionals and academics without discrediting the real value SHRM brings to organizations.

I especially liked your point about alignment when HR is connected to the company's main goals, it's no longer just about hiring or payroll, but about driving performance and strategy. That kind of integration really does lead to better outcomes.

And you're right about the academic side too SHRM opened up a whole new area for research and discussion, which naturally attracts attention. But as you said, that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a practical and beneficial approach that has helped many companies grow and evolve.

Nice job on keeping it fair and thoughtful!
