SHRM may have gained popularity among academics and HR professionals since it demonstrates how HR can directly contribute to a company's long-term success. SHRM matches HR procedures to help businesses remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market - such as hiring, training, and performance management—with business objectives.

For SHRM, there is a compelling business case. Enhancing employee involvement, ensuring equity, fostering growth, and assisting businesses in adjusting to external shifts like technology and globalization are some of its benefits.

Even though some may claim SHRM to be self-interest, SHRM is supported because of its demonstrated benefit on corporate performance. For this, HR is now strategic and not just administrative.
