Strategic human resource management provides a framework linking people management and development practices to long-term business goals and outcomes. It focuses on longer-term resourcing issues within the context of an organisation's goals and the evolving nature of work. It also informs other HR strategies, such as reward or performance, determining how they are integrated into the overall business strategy.

The concern of SHRM is to ensure that:

  1. Human resource management is fully integrated with the strategy and the strategic needs of the firm
  2. HR policies cohere both across policy areas and across hire archines
  3. HR practices are adjusted, accepted and used by line managers and employees as part of their everyday work

Indeed, in the long term it can bring a lot of benefit. However, as of now I think there are still a few who strategize their HR management.
