Based on the article, I believe that Academics and HR Professionals have adopted Strategic HRM or SHRM for short, based on their personal interests. For the academics department, SHRM helps them shine light on SHRM as a field of study so that more students/customers choose to study it, which in turn, will bring more profit to the institution. For HR Professionals, embracing SHRM gives them a higher status in the playing field as SHRM is a relatively modern and advanced concept and organisations which keep up with the trends are often looked up to.

I liked how you varied your response by aligning Academics and Professionals, not with the business capacity of HRM but with more self serving intentions. An interesting read!
