Academics and HR professionals use Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) because of its holistic, evidence-based, and forward-looking approach. Traditional HRM focuses on tasks, but SHRM integrates HR practises with corporate strategy. Effective HRM practises improve organisational performance, and SHRM adopters perform better. The Society for Human Resource Management and the Boston Consulting Group have found that HR-intensive organisations have more engaged employees, fewer attrition, and higher customer satisfaction. Some claim SHRM has created new employment, but 80% of HR professionals say it's necessary for organisational success. Positively, SHRM's adoption shows that HR is becoming more strategic and focused on helping organisations achieve their goals.
